Short answer: a commercial made with AI goes through the same broadcast gate as any other. It must meet the channel’s technical specification, hit the loudness standard, keep text inside safe areas, arrive in the right versions and lengths, and pass the broadcaster’s or clearance body’s content and rights checks. Planning for this from the start avoids a last-minute re-edit.
Technical specification
Each broadcaster or playout provider publishes its own delivery spec: resolution, frame rate, codec, audio channels, slate and black at head and tail. Always work from the current spec of the channels on the media plan.
Loudness
Commercials are measured for loudness. Many European broadcasters follow EBU R128 (a target of −23 LUFS), while in the United States ATSC A/85 (−24 LKFS) is common. A mix that sounds right on a laptop can fail these checks.
Safe areas and legibility
Keep supers, disclaimers and logos inside title-safe areas and on screen long enough to read. Legal text often has minimum size and duration rules.
Versions
- Lengths: e.g. 30, 20, 15 and 6 seconds.
- Clean versions without text for localisation.
- Separate audio stems for music, voice and effects.
Clearance and AI disclosure
Music, voices, likeness and claims need clearance as usual. Keep a production note describing where AI was used; some platforms and regulators ask for disclosure of synthetic content, and rules are evolving.

Yes, if it meets the broadcaster’s technical spec, loudness standard and clearance requirements like any other commercial.
What loudness level do commercials need?
It depends on the market. Many European broadcasters follow EBU R128 (−23 LUFS); the US commonly uses ATSC A/85 (−24 LKFS).
